About me

I am a mixed media artist, intuitive painter, workshop instructor and writer living in the  Cowichan Valley, on Vancouver Island, in BC, Canada.  I have been creating art since I was a toddler, and teaching art workshops for 25 years.  I have a big studio with lots of twinkly lights and paper lanterns where I can get messy and create, sing, dance, and eat chocolate to my heart's content.  In addition to holing up in my studio with the door locked and the music cranked I do like to share my space occasionally with others by teaching workshops and a weekly 8 hour drop in session I call Art Social.
I am a bookaholic, I spend over 10 hours a week in my bathtub, and I cry a lot.  I hate scary movies and love pudding.  I love to talk about big ideas and find out what makes people tick.  Then I don't want to talk at all.  Until I am ready to talk a lot again. (I fall under the classification of talkative extreme introvert.)

It is my belief that:
you can never have too many art supplies or twinkly lights
we are all creative beings
art heals
My studio

All of my intuitive paintings start out looking like this:

Then for a while they look like this (my favourite tool is my finger):

And eventually they usually end up looking something like this:
(I go through a lot of white paint)

For Maya

A lot of houses seem to show up in my paintings, especially little blue ones.
(See the above painting, upper left corner.) I never have a plan with my paintings.

I hold weekly drop in art studio sessions and various workshops and classes,
which range from 2 hours to 2 days.

Check out my Workshops and Drop In Sessions page for information on upcoming classes:

Art parties are a fun and creative way to celebrate special occasions like
